Jen and Douglas’ New Thing:
Maralinga spins an alternative history from the 1956 British nuclear tests in the Woomera. Three hundred years later a ruined, irradiated, post-apocalyptic Australia is a place where monsters a real and one girl, the last of a isolated and dying community in Melbourne’s south, launches on a desperate journey to find sanctuary and a mythical inland sea.
David’s THE BOLT REPORT won the Graphic Short Story prize in the Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Awards.
Also I have been too tubby to wear that blue striped tshirt for some time now.
When did you first notice the change?
This is a one page story from D.R.A.X, a comic I put together with Ive Sorocuk and Arran Mckenna for a Halloween party that Ive put on.
You can get a copy here if you like: shop.smallercomics.com, or if you are in Melbourne, you can probably find one in All Star Comics, Sticky or Squishface. You might have to look closely for them.
There’s a also a digital copy which you can get to read on whatever digital think you have, currently selling for radiohead prices, which is to say as much as you would like.
You know what, I’m not even embarrassed about how ridiculous this is. That was quite possibly the best day ever.
